An excellent early season cooking plum which sweetens later for eating fresh
‘Czar’ is one of the most popular traditional and trusted dessert plum tree varieties with regular, medium to large sized purple fruits, round in shape and with an acidic taste. The fruits darken and acquire a sweet taste as they ripen. Heavy, regular crops of delicious plums are ready for harvesting in July, but the fruits can be left to fully ripe for much sweeter taste. They make fantastic jams and preserves, and taste equally as good when eaten straight from the tree. ‘Czar’ has been awarded the Award of Garden Merit given by the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS), which helps gardeners make informed choices about plants.
